It's not as hard as yellow, but it's easy to slip up.Īfter all this, you beat the boss and sigh with relief. The last color is red and this shoots out floating spiky platforms that shoot blue flame above or below, meaning you have to jump over or stay below. Each one has a yellow ball that damages you shooting out of its top, so you have to jump over or through these to survive. If you get yellow tigers, yellow spiky platforms come out. They're spiky so you have to avoid hitting their sides. You just have to jump from platform to platform that come out of the "mouth" of the slot machine. You have to dodge coins, hit the lever with the "parry" move (a second tap of the jump button on glowing pink objects) and that sets off a random boss move. Once you finish this section, the first frog does his roll attack again and is swalled by the brown frog.Īt this point, they turn into a giant slot machine. ![]() The one shoots little electric balls at you while the second turns into a fan, blowing you toward his green accomplice. Jump over him, and now you've got a frog on either side. This cycles a couple times before the first frog rolls into a ball and tries to plow you over. The second frog sends little bee thingies at you, which float up in the air before slowly angling down toward you. The first shoots little rocket things at you in a low-mid-high-mid-low pattern (so jump, duck, stay ducked, jump, all while shooting. One of the early bosses is a pair of frogs who I dubbed Smough and Ornstein (though they have their own names in the game, I just didn't notice what they were while playing.) Each frog has its own moves at the beginning. They make you work for it.Įach boss has a series of evolving moves, and it's honestly remarkable just how much variety you encounter not just between one boss and the next, but within a single fight. You're out to collect souls for the devil in order to avoid eternal damnation thanks to stupid bet that Cuphead makes in the game's intro story. The bosses are the main attraction, however. The game is a mixture of levels, mini-levels and straight-up boss fights. ![]()
